On Friday 9th November we will be warming ourselves up with plenty of active games fun with the autumn colours of the leaves - leaf crowns, natural mandalas, wizards' view, treasure hunts and plenty of hot drinks and snacks!
Why should you brave the outdoors in winter? Studies show that being outdoors brings health benefits, makes people more relaxed, improves fitness and even 30 minutes of natural daylight reduces the symptoms of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) where we all feel a little down with the lack of daylight in winter! The scandinavians (who know a thing or two about living through long winters) encourage babies in their nature kindergartens to sleep outside in specially insulated cots as they believe in the health benefits of sleeping outside! So, wrap up your babies in their prams and give them some fresh air and bring your toddlers along to Forest School to run off some of that energy in a natural environment - no soft play or plastic - just wood, mud, ruddy cheeks and fresh air!
